Explanation
城壁で囲まれたオールド・バガンの南東、シュエサンドー・パゴダ（No.1568）へと延びる道の途中にある。北を正面とする寺院の主室西壁の北端。壁面全体で14列にわたり描かれているジャータカ図のうち、上から4列目の右端、テーミヤ・ジャータカ（第538話）の一部。壁画の下にはその内容を記した古ビルマ語の墨書がある。バガン遺跡では、絵巻のように横に物語の展開が描かれている壁画は珍しく貴重である。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.43／ジャータカ第538話?躄本生／ローカテイパン寺院祠堂西壁の本生図の拡大写真■538話?躄本生の場面である。1人の王子テーミが口を利かぬまま16年間過す。様々な治療が試みられたが効き目がない。遂に生き埋めにされようとして初めて口を利き、御者に法を語る。こうして王子は行者になり、父君の帰依を受けるようになる。写真は、画の下のビルマ語墨文によると、1枚が馬車で連れ出されるテーミ王子、もう1枚は王子が?ではなかった事を御者から聞いた王の王子への礼拝を示す。
