Associated Information in Japanese: 『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.218／善生仏の踰城／過去仏の踰城図■ウパーリ戒壇の壁画である。この戒壇は、ニャウンウー町からパガンへと通じる自動車道路の右脇に建っている。ティーローミンロー寺院から見ると、道路を隔てて北東の位置にある。1階建ての小さな建物である。ウパーリという名称は、建物内部の壁面にあるウパーリ長老の名前に因んだものと考えられている。建物は13世紀後半の建造だが、壁画は18世紀末のものである。建物内部は方形の空間になっており、西壁寄りに大きな釈尊塑像が安置されている。壁画は、天井と四方の壁面全体に描かれているが、南壁面は大半が?落または摩滅してしまっている。東西両壁と北壁の東半分はまだかなり鮮明である。壁面は上中下の三層に分れ、各層の下にはビルマ語の墨文がみられる。それによると、上層は過去二十八仏の成道図、中層は各仏の出家踰城図、下層は安居を迎える釈尊の図となっている。天井には仏足跡と女性在家信者の合掌礼拝図が描かれている。写真は善生仏の踰城を示す。円顔で、二重瞼、ぱっちりと見開かれた大きな眼、ほっそりとした長い眉、くっきりと描かれた鼻梁、裾がふわりと広がった筒袖付きの上衣(ビルマ語トーイン)、だぶだぶの下衣(パソー)などの特徴はカンマ寺院やミンガラーシュエ寺院の場合と共通している。
