コーナーガマナ仏／諸天図（ペーナター（No.1481））
Explanation
城壁で囲まれたオールド・バガンの南、シュエサンドー・パゴダ（No.1568）の西にある東正面の寺院。同一基壇上に3基並んで建っているうち一番北の寺院。南天井の壁画。中央の楼閣内に坐す転法輪印仏坐像は、下部に書かれた墨書により過去仏の第26仏コーナーガマナとわかる。墨書には「コーナーガマナという仏陀がソーバティーという都に住んだ。身長が30肘尺、寿命が30,000である。菩提樹は優曇華である」と書いている。周囲の楼閣内に坐す多数の神像は、墨書から功徳により天界に転生した天人であることがわかる。天井は四分割され、他の3区画にも楼閣内に坐す転法輪印仏坐像が描かれている。墨書より東天井はカクサンダ仏、北天井にはゴータマ仏だとわかり、西天井がカッサパ仏であれば、過去仏の中でも賢劫四仏を天井全体で表現していたことになる。(JT)
