Explanation
バガンの内陸部、ミンナントゥー村の北側にあるナンダミィンニャー寺院の北壁西側上部の壁画。寺院は東を正面とする。四方の壁面上部に過去仏の転法輪印坐像が列となって描かれ、その下部に過去仏の落飾図も列をなして描かれている。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.21／過去仏の落飾／過去仏の落飾■ナンダミンニャ寺院南北両壁面の上層に並ぶ過去二十八仏像の真下にある画。釈迦牟尼仏の落飾と違うのは、剣をもつ手が左右逆になっている事である。例えば、パトーダーミャー寺院北回廊外壁の悉達多太子の落飾図では、右手で剣を握り左手で支えた長い髪の束の根元に刃をあてている。ところがナンダミンニャ寺院の過去落飾図は、どの図も右手で髪の束を支え、左手で剣を握っている。つまりナンダミンニャ寺院の落飾図による限り過去仏はみな「左利き」であったという事になる。
