ニダプク石窟中央左側 (DM)
ニダプクは、現地の言葉で石窟を指す。西壁中央上部に描かれる十一面千手千眼観音像。観音像周辺の円光内には、赤の筆致で手のひらを表し、目が描写してある。観音の円光を取り囲むような円相内の僧侶の視線は、すべて十一面千手千眼観音に向き、礼拝しているような構図をとる。この図像の左上部に大きな岩が張り出している。(MS)

『チベット密教壁画』サスポールpl.1／十一面千手観音／窟院左壁の十一面千手観音(Sahasr-abhuja)。十一面は五段構成で下から三面・三面・三面・一面・一面の配列であるが､第四段と第五段は日本のそれと同じく大笑面、阿弥陀如来の化仏面である。観音菩薩は阿弥陀如来の部族(蓮華部)であるから部族仏である赤色の阿弥陀如来を頭頂にいただくのである。主要な手は八本で持物を持つか、または印を結んでいる。それ以外に千本の手が円形に描かれ、各手に各一眼が付されている。図の下方には観音の慈悲深い救済を願う二人の人物が小さく描かれている。下地は海老茶色であるが下部はほとんど剥落している。
