Explanation
バガンの東部、ニャウンウー村のさらに東、エーヤーワディー川を見下ろす小高い丘の上にある東正面の寺院。主室の天井壁画。中央に蓮華があり、そこから伸びる装飾帯によって天井が四分割されている。方形と円を組み合わせたような図形内に転法輪印仏坐像が描かれ、それらが規則的に配置されている。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.95／天井中央の蓮華と周囲の装飾文様／天井中央の蓮華と四周の装飾文様■仏足跡が外陣の天井に描かれるように、蓮華は内陣の天井に描かれる。つまり釈尊塑像の真上に蓮華が描かれている事になる。この蓮華の意味は「生命の源泉」を表すとされている。写真はテッチャムニ寺院の蓮華図。
