Explanation
バガンの内陸部、ミンナントゥー村の北側にあるパヤートンズー寺院の中央祠堂（No.478）主室南東隅の南側下部の壁画。寺院は北を正面とし、同型の祠堂が3基連なっている。柱装飾の柱根に位置する。人物像は上半身が裸で腹が出ているので、男神と思われる。左手にはチャクラムのような武器を持っている。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.62／二頭の獅子に乗るパールヴァティー／パヤートンズー寺院の東室壁面に描かれているパールヴァティー■獅子の背を踏まえるパールヴァティーまたはシンガヴァヒニあるいはジャガッダトリを表していると考えられる。ドゥルガーはシヴァ神の妃で、最も強力な戦士だとされている。シンガヴァヒニやジャガッダトリはその変身である。パールヴァティーもシヴァの妃でカイラーサ山に住んでいるとされる。写真によると乳房にふくらみがあり、顔に髭や髯が描かれていないので女神である事は確かだが、パールヴァティーは通常若い妙齢の美女とされているので、この写真の女神はあるいはパールヴァティーではないかも知れない。
