Explanation
バガンの内陸部、ミンナントゥー村の北側にあるナンダミィンニャー寺院の南突出部東壁の壁画。寺院は東を正面とする。上部には触地印仏坐像がある。女性の行列は全部で12人描かれている。成道後5週目の釈迦を誘惑するために、悪魔マーラの娘たちが様々な女性に化けて、釈迦に近づく場面を描いている。年代記に登場する初夜権を行使する偽僧アリーのもとへ赴く女性たちなど、従来、様々な解釈がなされてきた。(JT)
