Explanation
バガンの南部、アベーヤダナー寺院（No.1202）やナガーヨン寺院（No.1192）のさらに南、ソーミンヂー僧院（No.1147）の少し南にある北正面の寺院。寺院に入って右側、北突出部西壁の壁画。三十三天に転生したマーヤー夫人に説法するために須弥山を昇り、天上で説法をしてから、三十三天からサンカーシャに降り立つ場面。画面の左側には、釈迦の左に傘を差しかける梵天、右に先導する帝釈天が描かれている。画面の下には、中央に須弥山、その左右にそれを取り囲む山脈が柱の形で表現されている。画面上部の左側の円内にはウサギが描かれ、月を表し、右側の円は恐らく太陽を表すものと思われる。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.29／三道宝階下洲／三道宝階下洲図■496号寺院の降下図である。496号寺院は、ミンカバー村からティーリピッサヤ村へと通じる道路に沿って、アベーヤダナー、ナガヨン両寺院を通り過ぎた西側にある。北向きの小型寺院だが､屋上に上半分が崩れた螺旋状のシカーラを載せている。内部には中間壁がなく、内外両陣の区別がはっきりしない。壁画は豊富で鮮明である。描かれているのは、入口を入って直ぐの左右(東西)両壁面が釈尊坐像と仏伝、その奥の東西両壁面が過去二十八仏と菩薩立像、中央から四隅に向って放射状に伸びる4本の帯で四つの面に仕切られた天井には多数の蓮蕾状の枠の中に説法印を結んだ釈尊坐像が、そして明り窓周囲の壁には飛天の姿が、それぞれ描かれている。また釈尊の足許に跪いて合掌する舎利弗の姿が描き加えられている。
