触地印仏坐像／成道図（グービザッチー（No.1662））
Explanation
城壁で囲まれたオールド・バガンの内部、城壁北側の近く、マハーボーディ寺院（No.1670）の北側にある東正面の寺院。恐らく主室の西回廊内壁の壁画。仏陀の上部に釈迦牟尼仏の菩提樹であるアッサッタ樹が描かれていることから、成道図と思われる。本寺院は他にほとんど壁画が残っていない。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.8／右手触地印の成道坐像／右手触地印の成道坐像■グービザッチー寺院に残る釈尊坐像図である。この寺院は屋上に螺旋型のシカーラを載せた寺院で、マハーボーディー寺院の北にある道をイラワジ河の方に向って行くと北(道の左)側にある。内部は中央にコの字型の柱があり、その柱と外壁とでロの字型の繞道が形成されている。写真は、左手与願印、右手触地印の降魔成道像だが、他の寺院の仏陀坐像との違いは全体にほっそりとした体?と小ぢんまりした顔の2点である。肩に届かんとする長い耳朶や鋭く尖った屹立型の肉髻、前方斜め下に注がれた視線、アラビア数字3を俯せにしたような形の額の生え際、やや釣り上がり気味の目尻、偏袒右肩の袈裟、両蹠を上向けにした結跏趺坐などはパガンの成道仏坐像に共通する特徴だが、小さな顔やほっそりした体つきはこの寺院にだけ見られる特徴であろう。
