Explanation
バガンの東部、ニャウンウー村のさらに東、エーヤーワディー川沿いの小高い丘の上にある西正面の寺院。主室の南突出部東壁上部の壁画。コンドーヂー寺院（No.151）の壁画ではない。先端が尖ったU字型の帯の中に片手を胸前に置いて座る天人像、帯の間に牙を剥いた怪物が描かれている。また帯の付け根にはマカラが描かれており、空隙は植物文で埋め尽くされている。壁面の下部には、仏伝図などが描かれている。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.96／菩薩坐像と装飾文様／壁面上層の菩薩坐像と植物文様■コンドーヂー寺院の図である。この寺院は、13世紀前半に建立された基壇一層の小型寺院で、屋上に螺旋状円錐形の塔を載せている。壁画は天井中央の蓮華や壁面の本生図その上の仏伝図などが中心である。写真は天井と接した壁面最上層の一部を示す。菩薩は宝冠その他の装身具を付け、右手を胸の前に挙げて中品印を結んでいる。坐り方は正確な結跏趺坐ではない。菩薩の周囲には蓮の葉や茎、花などが配置され、その外側にU字型の帯が描かれている。この帯の上方左右には2匹の摩迦羅がいて、帯を呑み込もう(あるいは吐き出そう)としている。
