Associated Information in Japanese: 『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.191／本生譚の一場面、宮廷生活を享受する国王／アーナンダ煉瓦寺院の本生図■この寺院は、チャンシッター王の建立で知られるパガンのアーナンダ寺院の北側に隣接した煉瓦造りの建物である。ビルマ語では、アーナンダ・オウ・チャウン(Ananda Oke Kyaung)とよばれる。北に面した入口を入ると、内部は回廊と内室とに分れ、回廊の内部両壁面と天井および内室の壁面に壁画が描かれている。仏陀塑像はない。内室の正面壁面にビルマ語の銘板がはめ込まれており、この建物が1785年に竣功した事が記されている。回廊の壁面は上､中、下の三層に分けられ、それぞれ帯状に画が描かれている。上層はきわめて鮮明だが、中層は不鮮明、下層は大半が剥落している。各層の下に記されたビルマ語の説明文によると、画題はジャータカ、なかんずくマハーニパータからの抜粋場面で、燃燈仏や須弥陀行者、梵与王などの姿が描かれている。もっとも、人物の服装や髪型、装飾品、建物や乗物などの背景は、当時のビルマ社会、なかでも王宮内の生活を描写したものである事は疑いない。写真は華やかな宮廷生活を享受する国王を描いたものである。
