バガンの内陸部、ミンナントゥー村の北側にある囲壁をもつ東正面の寺院。前室の西壁南側の壁画。菩薩のような姿をした護法神。周囲が植物文様で埋められている。反対側（西壁北側）にも同様の護法神が描かれている。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.14／阿弥陀的印契を結ぶ菩薩／阿弥陀的印契を結ぶタンブーラ寺院の菩薩坐像■タンブーラ寺院は13世紀の中頃ウザナ王の妃タンブーラによって建立された基壇一層の中型寺院で、ミンナントゥー村から北へ伸びる牛車道に沿って行くと道路の東側､ パヤートンズー寺院とナンダミンニャ寺院との中間地点にある。この寺院は内部が前室と奥室とに分れており、奥室には中央に四面体の支柱があり各面に1体ずつ仏像が安置されている。壁画は内外両陣共に見られるが、外陣の画は弥勒菩薩の成仏を説く場面、内陣の画は壁面の上から下に向って過去二十八仏、二十八仏の仏伝、チャリヤ・ピタカの経変図と仏伝、本生図などである。写真は外陣から内陣へと通じる拱道横の壁面に描かれている菩薩坐像で、宝冠を被り、黒髪を多重コイル状に編み上げ(ジャター・マクタ)、幅広の首飾りをはめて腕や手首にも腕飾りを付けている。下半身にはきわめて精緻な植物文様のある半ズボン式の下衣をつけている。右手は胸の前に挙げ、左手は伸して左膝の上にのせている。両手とも掌は外向けにされている上に、親指と中指とを捻じて輪を作っている。阿弥陀如来の中品下生印と同じである。
