2頭の鹿に乗る神像（パヤーンガーズー寺院群（No.1846））
Explanation
城壁で囲まれたオールド・バガンの東側、ティーローミンロー（No.1812）の西側にある、5基の同型の寺院群からなるパヤーンガーズー・グループにある1846号寺院の壁画。西を正面とする寺院の南西隅、柱装飾中の大きな枠4つ、その間の小さな枠3つのうちの一つ。本図は大枠で下から2つ目に位置する。北西隅のみ切り取られて確認できないが、他の三隅には本図と同様に2頭の鹿に乗る神像が見られる。尊格の同定は難しい。(JT)

『パガンの仏教壁画』pl.60／二頭の鹿を抱えるヴァーユ／パヤーンガーズー寺院の四隅に見られる神像■四隅を守護する神の1体だと思われる。両足で2頭の鹿を締め付けているところからみて、風の神ヴァーユだと解釈される。もしこの解釈が正しければ、守護する方角は西北である。
