『チベット密教壁画』バスゴーpl.1／金剛薩?／金銅堂(Gserzans、下の弥勒堂のこと、金銀銅泥で書かれたチベット写本があるのでそのように呼称される)後壁右部。金色で転法輪印を結ぶ金剛薩?(Vajrasattva)。金剛薩?と持金剛(Vajradhara)は非常に近い関係にあって宗派によっては同一と考えられている。図像学的にも厳密な区別はつけ難いが、一般に金剛杵(vajra)と金剛鈴(ghant?)を持ち、身色は白色(もしくは金色)でヴァジュラフーンカーラの印を結ばないものを金剛薩?と比定してよかろう(「壁画の特質と分類」の項参照)。同尊は菩薩形で結跏趺坐し、シンボルの金剛杵と金剛鈴を両肩の蓮華の上に置く。金剛薩?は元来菩薩の一種で、五仏とくに阿?如来の因位の存在(将来は阿?如来となる)と考えられていたが、持金剛とともに次第に有力となり、ついには五仏の上に立つ本初仏(?dibuddha)の地位を獲得するに到った。なお周囲にはカーギュッ派の祖師が、両肩には太陽と月が描かれている。
