Explanation: 弥勒堂前壁左側 (DM)
忿怒尊ヴァジュラパーニの顔左側から頭部にわたる損傷は、壁画表面を拭いたりして生じたものだと思われる。チベット仏教壁画は、壁画表面に薄い塗膜を施し、灯明の煤や埃が付着した時に表面を拭いて掃除することがある。しかしフレスコと違い、彩色層は壁と一体化しているわけではないので、雨漏りや摩耗で損傷してしまう。(MS)

Associated Information in Japanese: 『チベット密教壁画』バスゴーpl.4／忿怒尊ヴァジュラパーニ／山頂にある弥勒堂(Byamspalhakhan)前壁左部の壁画。他の忿怒尊マハーカーラ(Ma-h?k?la)に似るが、通常二臂で展左(praty?lidha)の姿勢をとり、右手に金剛杵(vajra)を持つ。赤色の火炎光背を後にして緑色(裏地は白色)の天衣を翻らせている。身につけている胸飾、瓔珞、足釧などは金泥で描かれている。台座がからみ合った蛇であるのは興味深い。
